For participants who are interested to understand about detecting telecommunications cables, telecommunication Licensee's Earthworks Requirements and who would like to be licensed as TCDW by IMDA

Course Objective

  • Familiarization with Singapore telecommunication network

  • Legislations on Telecommunication Act and Cable Detection Workers

  • Definition of earthworks

  • Licensee's Earthworks Requirements

  • Trial pits

  • Identification of telecommunication manholes

  • Cable detection report

  • Case studies on cable damages

  • Cable detection techniques

  • Permit to work and Risk Assessment

  • Practical handling of cable locator

Minimum Qualifications

  • ITE's Industrial Technical Certificate, ITE's National Technical Certificate Grade 2, at least 3 'O' Levels Passes, Certificate in Pavement Construction Course, National Certificate in Construction Supervision Course or such other educational qualifications as may be accepted by IMDA.

  • At least one-year practical experience in building construction, building services, civil engineering or structural engineering construction
